Boost your metabolism naturally!

Hi sweet friends,

If you have been searching for ways to speed up your metabolism so you can shed some weight without too much effort, look no further. It's actually a lot easier than you may think and anyone can do it, even you! Read my tips below and start right away!

Drink lots of water :)

Sip it, slurp it, anyway you like it, as long as you get it inside of you.

The number one thing I tell anyone who is wanting to lose weight and boost their metabolism is to drink their H2o’s. Drinking water is a very important way to keep yourself hydrated and fuelling your body. If you follow a guideline of minimum 2 litres a day, and give or take depending on your level of activity that day, you’re off to a good start. Begin your day with one or two big glasses of water on an empty stomach – a great way to kick-start your metabolism :)

Move your body :)

Put that bagel down or whatever it is you’re about to inhale, and move first. Another great way to kick-start your metabolism at the beginning of the day, is to either do some yoga, as short as 10 minutes is good enough; or a power walk around the block. This type of movement before you start eating will also prepare your body to digest your breakfast better :)

Have yourself a satisfying breakfast :)

Many people make the mistake of skipping breakfast when they are trying to lose weight. This is the worst thing you can do. If you have gotten into the habit of missing breakfast, break this habit fast, this is why it is called break-fast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day after a night of fasting. In order to boost your metabolism you need to have something that is low GI, high protein and is rich in nutrients. A healthy smoothie or protein shake is an easy way to fuel your body with what it needs. :)

Make some muscle :)

It is so important to build muscle; it’s not just for the men. This doesn’t mean you have to look like the incredible hulk, no. Strength training with weights (you can use baked beans tins if you like), yoga, or swimming can all help to build good muscle that will in turn burn calories. So in short – the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn :)

Work on your fitness :)

High intensity cardio training is a fabulous way to boost your metabolism. This can be running, cycling, aerobic, dancing; whatever floats your boat, as long as you are raising your resting metabolic rate. If these movements are too fast for you and you’re more of a power walker, then try adding a few bursts of running or jogging in between. The key is to challenge yourself, mix it up and step out of your comfort zone :)

Eat lots of protein :)

The body needs to use up more calories to digest, absorb and process proteins. Eating protein whether it’s via meats/vegetarian options, can increase your metabolic rate by 15-30%. It also helps you to feel fuller longer, which means less snacking in between meals (and we all know that’s a good thing). :)

Cook with coconut oil :)

Yes, I said coconut oil. Unlike other saturated oils, coconut oil is a great source of medium chain triglycerides, which is a form of fatty acid that has many wonderful health benefits; one which is to increase your metabolism and help you lose weight. How does it do this? Well, all fats are not created equal. Coconut oil is one of the richest sources of good saturated fats. Our body metabolises these fats in the liver, instantly converting this into energy rather than it being stored as fat. (I not only cook with this oil, but I also add a teaspoon of it to my daily smoothies). When purchasing, make sure you pick unrefined, extra virgin cold pressed coconut oil. :)

Drink green tea :)

Everyone’s heard of this amazing tea. It’s known for it’s great health benefits. It boosts metabolism by about 4-5% and helps to convert some of the fat stored in your body into free fatty acids, which can actually increase fat burning by 10-17%! Just make sure it’s organic if you are drinking it regularly and throughout the day :)

Get your beauty sleep :)

Early to bed and early to rise is the way to go! Lack of sleep decreases the amount of calories you burn and then disrupts the way you metabolise food, which will make you put on weight. Getting enough zzzzz’z will keep you on top of your game :)

So there it is, a few simple changes that you can start today without breaking the bank. If you are interested in shedding some serious weight then go ahead and 'like' my Facebook page  @AreYouFeelingFabulous and contact me at Feelingfabulous.org to enquire about my fat burning programs and seasonal detoxes.
